Abstract
Winter hardiness in the F1 was intermediate, but closer to that of the better parent, in crosses of winter hardy X semidwarf varieties, while winter hardiness was dominant (but not significantly so) in the reciprocal. Positive correlations were established between winter hardiness and (1) number of grains/ear and (2) grain weight/ear.
