Inhibition of nitrification by nitrapyrin
In two field experiments on a silty loam and a sandy loam, 90 kg N/ha was applied as NH4OH to maize at flowering, together with various levels of nitrapyrin ranging from 0 to 6 672 g/ha a.i. Nitrapyrin maintained low NO3-N/NH4-N ratios in both soils, the ratios being lower at higher nitrapyrin levels.
