Investigations on milk yield and reproductive traits in Hungarian Pied and Holstein-Friesian X Hungarian Pied cows, using dam-daughter comparisons

Data on an unspecified number of Hungarian Pied (HP) and Holstein-Friesian (HF) X HP cows were analysed. Compared with HP cows, the crossbreds had a longer calving interval (by 12-17 days), a longer service period (by 15%), a higher insemination index (by 0.3-0.9) and higher milk yield (by 1379, 1453 and 1702 kg resp. in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lactation). Compared with HF X HP dams, HF X (HF X HP) daughters had a longer calving interval and service period (by 16 and 17 days resp.).
