Irrigation scheduling using a canopy temperature stress degree day index to induce variable water stress in field-grown Florunner peanut

Irrigation scheduling using a canopy temperature stress degree day index to induce variable water stress in field-grown Florunner peanut

Proceedings, American Peanut Research and Education Society, Inc 17: 65

Differential canopy/ambient temp. measured by an IR thermometer was used to calculate a stress degree day index (the sum of the numbers of degrees Celsius by which canopy temp. exceeded ambient temp.) for scheduling irrigation in groundnut Florunner at Yoakum, Texas in 1984. Plots were irrigated after 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 stress degree days (SDD). Yield declined significantly and linearly as SDD level increased.
