Juglans cinerea in the Trostyanets arboretum

Byulleten' Glavnogo Botanicheskogo Sada (138): 19-21

J. cinerea is naturalized in this 'dendropark' in Chernigov Province, northern Ukraine, where it grows in association with maple and linden, especially on forest margins. Silvicultural characteristics are described, including those of its natural hybrids with J. mandshurica and J. nigra. J. cinerea is fast-growing but produces timber and fruit of low quality and is regarded as a weed.
