This research examines the vertical linkages among three levels of prices in the cattle-beef marketing channel, USA. Temporal relationships among the boxed beef cuts, carcass, and fed cattle prices are estimated. The potential of wholesale beef prices in forecasting daily fed cattle prices is empirically investigated. The average price response, the elasticity of price transmission and price spreads are estimated for fed cattle and wholesale beef.
