Making extension effective: the role of extension/research linkages

Making extension effective: the role of extension/research linkages

Agricultural extension worldwide: 89-99

The contention that the US extension 'traditional model' does not work in developing countries is refuted, on the grounds that it has not realy been tried. The paper focuses on two major problems that lead to comments on other aspects. The two problems identified from the so-called US model are inadequate logistic support and inadequate technical support of the local agent. It advocates consideration of an inclusive concept, the Technology Innovation Process (TIP).
