This standard, superseding 1.10 of BS 4285:1968 describes a reference method for counting lipolytic organisms in milk and milk products. It uses a sugar-free agar medium of pH 7.5, containing emulsified sweet-cream butter fat coloured with the fat-soluble base of Victoria blue.
