Abstract
The feeding behaviour of adults of the pentatomids Halyomorpha mista, Nezara antennata and Piezodorus hybneri and the coreid Riptortus clavatus on soyabean pods was studied in the laboratory. The feeding duration and frequency per day were examined for each species. The mean time spent on large injured beans was not different from that on large uninjured ones, but, among the smaller beans, uninjured beans were chosen more frequently than injured ones. An analytical model was developed to describe the process of quality deterioration of beans due to attack by these pests.
