During 7 yr (1979-85), cacao harvests (beans and husks) were recorded under Cordia alliodora and Erythrina poeppigiana shade trees at CATIE. The mean oven dry cacao yields were 626 and 712 kg/ha p.a. cocoa beans under C. alliodora and E. poeppigiana, respectively. Harvests have gradually increased over the years and the plantation has now reached maturity.
