Oviposition site and egg mortality of the armyworm, Pseudaletia separata Walker, on orchardgrass

Oviposition site and egg mortality of the armyworm, Pseudaletia separata Walker, on orchardgrass

Japanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology 31.4: 279-284

The oviposition site of the noctuid Pseudaletia separata on orchardgrass was studied in Japan in 1980-81. The distribution of the eggs varied in relation to the regrowth of the grass after harvest. More eggs were laid on living leaves when the grass was growing rapidly 19 days after harvest than 1 or 40 days after harvest when they were more prevalent on dead leaves. Most eggs were laid within the folds of unexpanded living and dead leaves.
