Seedlings of Vigna unguiculata, V. mungo, V. acontifolia and Cajanus cajan were inoculated with 0, 10, 100 or 1000 H. cajani/plant in a pot experiment. There were highly significant reductions in growth of V. unguiculata, C. cajan and V. acontifolia (except plant height in the latter) at the 2 highest inocula, and a significant reduction in root length and fresh and dry root weights of V. acontifolia was observed at 10 nematodes/plant.
