This study in Narsingdi Upazila, Dhaka District, Bangladesh investigates the factors influencing the adoption of modern varieties (MV) of rice. Discriminant analysis is used to identify the characteristics differentiating adopters from non-adopters. The variables included are: education of the farmer, irrigation, farm size, extension contact, total number of family members, and availability of credit.
