Performance of tropical pasture legumes grown in south-western islands of Japan. XV. The effects of cutting intervals on dry matter and digestible dry matter yields of Siratro mixed with tropical grasses

Performance of tropical pasture legumes grown in south-western islands of Japan. XV. The effects of cutting intervals on dry matter and digestible dry matter yields of Siratro mixed with tropical grasses

Journal of Japanese Society of Grassland Science 32(1): 29-35

Macroptilium atropurpureum mixtures with Panicum maximum, Digitaria decumbens or Setaria sphacelata var. sericea were cut every 3, 5, 7 or 9 weeks to 3 cm height on Ishigaki Island, Japan in 1972-3. Annual DM and DDM yields increased with an increase in cutting interval. The percentage of M. atropurpureum in the mixture decreased with increasing cutting frequency.
