Pheromonal trapping methods for lesser grain borer, Rhyzopertha dominica (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae)

In bagged grain in Texas, probe traps baited with 50 micro l of dominicalure 1 ((S)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2-methyl-2-pentenoate) released from rubber bands were attractive to Rhyzopertha dominica. For aerial trapping, dominicalure was a powerful attractant both inside a warehouse and outdoors. Dominicalure 1, dominicalure 2 ((S)-1-methylbutyl (E)-2,4-dimethyl-2-pentenoate) and mixtures of the 2 were equally attractive.
