Plant protein improvement by genetic engineering: use of synthetic genes

The improvement of plant protein by the insertion of artificially constructed genes is examined. High essential amino acid encoding (HEAAE) genes, designed to produce proteins composed of up to 80% essential amino acids whichever DNA strand is transcribed, have been introduced into potato using disarmed Agrobacterium tumefaciens Ti plasmids as vectors.
