Preliminary studies on Hubei rice with photosensitive genetic male sterility. 1. Preliminary tests for the expression of the gene

Scientia Agricultura Sinica 20(1): 13-19

Examination of grain fertility and normal pollen percentages in Nongken 58 with the recessive gene for photosensitive male sterility, under long and short days throughout the reproductive stage, showed that the gene is not expressed under short day treatment. Under long days for one or more periods during inflorescence differentiation, it was seen that the gene was expressed at whatever stage the treatment took place and even when the treatment was very short (1-3 long days).
