Production of anther-derived doubled haploids for breeding oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.)

Production of anther-derived doubled haploids for breeding oilseed rape (Brassica napus L.)

Dissertation Abstracts International, B Sciences and Engineering 47(5): 1814B

A study of 67 genotypes showed that anther-derived embryos could be obtained from 90% of them, at varying frequencies. About half of the embryos developed normally into plantlets, depending on the genotype and the culture conditions. Of 1045 regenerated plants, 271 were diploid and the remainder haploid. Higher frequencies of embryogenesis were obtained for most genotypes by using buds 3.0 to 4.5 mm long taken from donor plants conditioned in controlled environments.
