Production of monosomic alien addition lines of Oryza sativa having a single chromosome of O. officinalis

Production of monosomic alien addition lines of Oryza sativa having a single chromosome of O. officinalis

Rice genetics Proceedings of the International Rice Genetics Symposium, 27-31 May, 1985, Manila, Philippines: 199-208

Eighteen accessions of O. officinalis of diverse origin were crossed as males to 3 improved breeding lines of O. sativa. Crossability of the 3 lines ranged from 1.0 to 2.3%, being highest in IR31917-45-3-2. Viable F1 hybrids, obtained by in vitro embryo rescue, were morphologically intermediate, had 24 chromosomes, showed no chromosome pairing during meiosis and were male-sterile.
