Production, viability and fertility of first-generation Triticum aestivum L. X Triticum durum Desf. hybrids

In a study of the crossability of 2 bread wheat varieties with 4 durum wheat lines derived from crosses involving wild einkorn wheat and T. timopheevii, together with the viability of the F1, F2 and F1BC1, environmental conditions played a decisive part in the production and self fertility of the F1. The percentage of F1BC1 plants and pentaploid F2 hybrids depended on the frequency of functional female gametes.
