In trials in 1981-83 at the Pavlovsk Experimental Station of the All-Union Vavilov Institute (VIR), 500 new Soviet and foreign forms were evaluated for earliness, height, lodging resistance, resistance to disease (particularly Erysiphe graminis and Drechslera teres), grain size and yield and malting quality.
