The parental, F1, F2 and backcross generations from a cross between Sadao Rischu (resistant to downy mildew (Pseudoperonospora cubensis) and powdery mildew) and susceptible Shchedryi 118 were evaluated for resistance to downy mildew in the field in 1979-81 and the data obtained were subjected to hybrid analysis using Powers' partitioning method and Pershin's proportional lattice method.
