Rabbit oocyte maturation: changes of membrane resistance, capacitance, and the frequency of spontaneous transient depolarisations

, : Rabbit oocyte maturation: changes of membrane resistance, capacitance, and the frequency of spontaneous transient depolarisations. Developmental Biology 120(1): 162-169

During oocyte maturation in vitro, input electrical resistance increased and input capacitance decreased, but no significant change in membrane potential was detected. The data were consistent with a decrease in electrical coupling between the corona radiata and oocyte during maturation. Spontaneous transient depolarisations were recorded from immature oocytes surrounded by a corona radiata, but not from mature ova.

A new method for cloning genes that are known only by their phenotype, not their biochemical effect, has recently been developed. This strategy, which is known as map-based cloning, relies on knowledge of genetic map position as the basis for clon...

Interaction of the neuropeptide substance P (SP) and its neurokinin-1 receptor (NK-1R) plays an important role in the pathophysiology of intestinal inflammation.
