Radioactivity in Bavarian honeys in 1986

, : Radioactivity in Bavarian honeys in 1986. Apidologie 18(4): 357-358

After the Chernobyl accident in April 1986 more than 300 honeys extracted after the middle of May in Bavaria were examined for radioactivity (134Cs + 137Cs). The results in the 7 Bavarian districts were (in becquerels/kg honey): Upper Bavaria, 197 (range, 97-438); Lower Bavaria, 235 (118-456); Upper Pals, 121 (45-362); Upper Franconia, 83 (41-150); Middle Franconia, 89 (54-131); Lower Franconia, 35 (14-66); Suabia, 245 (101-505).
