Rational use of rice cultivars resistant to rice blast in mountainous areas of Anji County

Fourteen physiological races of Pyricularia oryzae, in 7 groups, were identified in laboratory and field tests in Anji County, Zhejiang, in 1978-84. Ejiufeng, a first crop cultivar, and C82-02 and Chengte 232, second crop cultivars, resistant to both blast and bacterial blight (Xanthomonas campestris pv. oryzae), had yield losses caused by blast 78.6-93.6% lower than in other cultivars in commercial production.
