Reaction of faba bean to Rhizoctonia solani and virulence of selected isolates of the fungus

Reaction of faba bean to Rhizoctonia solani and virulence of selected isolates of the fungus

Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology 9(3): 285

Some 331 Vicia faba accessions (Accs) and cultivars (Cvs) were evaluated in the field for resistance to isolates RS12 and RS58 using a 1 : 1 mixture of millet seed infected with each isolate applied at the rate of 40 ml per m row over the seed. The incidence of seed rot varied from year to year due in part to different soil moisture levels. Thirty Accs were identified with >60% plants resistant to seed rot. Half the Accs and Cvs tested showed >60% plants with resistance to seedling blight.
