Relative damage and losses due to insect pests on paddy crop

Field trials [India] were conducted to estimate the losses caused by major inject pests on kharif paddy. Varying degree of leaf folder and rice skipper [Cnaphalocrocis medinalis and Paranara naso] damage in the crop were obtained by protection of crop by insecticidal application and unprotected one. The leaf folder and rice skipper caused substantial loss of grain and straw in untreated plots. The plant characters are also affected by adopting recommended control measures.
