Response of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) to sources and rates of phosphorus under greenhouse conditions. II. Dark red latosol - medium texture

Response of sweet sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) to sources and rates of phosphorus under greenhouse conditions. II. Dark red latosol - medium texture

Anais da Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" 40(2): 687-712

The effects of 50, 100 or 200 p.p.m. phosphate applied to the surface of a dark red latosol or incorporated as either Catalao rock phosphate or triple superphosphate with or without lime to increase soil pH to 6.5 on DM yields of sorghum were studied. Application of triple superphosphate gave higher DM yields than rock phosphate particularly in the presence of lime. Lime also increased P uptake from both sources especially in the 2nd and 3rd sorghum cuts.
