Retardation of leaf senescence by some aliphatic dicarboxylic acids and their diesters

This paper was presented at the International Symposium, Regulation of Plant Integrity, held in Sep. 1985 at Brno, Czechoslovakia. The effect of saturated alkyl dicarboxylic acids and their diethyl esters on the senescence of detached radish and barley leaf senescence was investigated. Most of the acids retarded leaf aging, particularly when the acids contained an even number of CH2 groups. The diethyl esters showed higher activity than their corresponding acids.
