The first stage of a two part study analyses existing sources of information on the retired market for holidays in the UK. It describes the retired population: (1) in terms that are relevant to their holiday-taking behaviour and requirements such as numbers, age and sex, income and wealth, and geographical distribution; and (2) their holiday-taking behaviour, number of holidays, destinations, seasons, duration, transport and accommodation used, and spending.
