Rice seedling transplanters in the Philippines

The experiences of the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) in developing a rice transplanter for mat-type seedlings are reported. The TR 1 5 row transplanter failed to generate much interest and had a number of problems. The TR 6 row transplanter had a better field capacity (0.3-0.4 ha/d), better operator comfort, easier fabrication, less troublesome operation and greater versatility.
