The human response to rehabilitation in 29 villages affected by the construction of the Dhom Dam across the Krishna river in the Satara district of Maharashtra, India, was monitored from January 1982-January 1984. The research attempted to identify changes in land use patterns, social structure, economic activities, demography and settlement within the affected villages, so as to assess the total affect of an irrigation project on rehabilitation.
