Salt responses of enzymes from rice cultivars differing in salt tolerance

Analysis of tissues from 3 salt-resistant and 5 salt-sensitive cultivars grown as potted plants for 6 weeks under conditions of salinity (750 ml NaCl solution of EC value 10 mmhos/cm applied once a week) vs. non-salinity revealed that salt resistance was directly correlated with increases in amylase, ATPase (adenosinetriphosphatase) and nitrate reductase activity in response to salt treatment.
