Abstract
In order to schedule irrigation to wheat on the basis of sunken pan evaporation, experiments were conducted on vertisol during 1979-80 and 1981-82. Results indicated that grain yield of wheat increased with the ratio, IW/CPE and decreased with depth of irrigation. The highest value of consumptive use efficiency was 9.58 kg/ha/mm, with ET/PE ratio of 1.02 at 1.0 IW/CPE ratio. The total depth of water required for irrigation increased with increased IW/CPE ratio (i.e. 0.6 to 1.2) with 60 mm depth of irrigation water.
