Self-pruning, formation of epicormic shoots, etc. during 25 years in a non-thinned and two thinned plots of a thinning experiment in beech

Self-pruning, formation of epicormic shoots, etc. during 25 years in a non-thinned and two thinned plots of a thinning experiment in beech

Forstlige Forsogsvaesen i Danmark 40(1): 1-51

The main purpose of this study (covering ages 34 to 60 yr so far) was the observation of the development of individual trees (tree biographies) as an aid to selection of crop trees. Thinning had started 9 yr previously and was heavy in one stand (completely removing the understorey) and somewhat less so in the other (keeping an understorey). Data are presented and analysed in many graphs and tables.
