This paper reports on the formulation of simulation models for evaluating the operational suitability and stability of a packed-bed reactor system using alginate-entrapped Kluyveromyces marxianus NCYC 179 cells for continuous ethanol generation from whey permeate. The experimental and simulated results confirm the stability of the above reactor system for prolonged operation under optimal process conditions.
