Size of Polish forest districts in relation to those in other European countries

, : Size of Polish forest districts in relation to those in other European countries. Las Polski (13-14): 11-13

The recent (1982) increase in the av. size of Polish forest districts from 6400 ha to 19 700 ha and of forests from 1000 ha to 1643 ha is discussed and compared with the current position elsewhere in Europe. Austria has forest districts (Forstverwaltung) of 9400 ha on av., of which 6273 ha are forests (Forstbezirk) each of an av. 1377 ha. The equivalent unit in Bulgaria is the state forest with an area of 10 000-45 000 ha.
