Embryo sacs of a range of genotypes representing 2x and 4x rye, bread wheat, 6x and 8x triticale, barley, 4x radish X kale hybrids, 2x and 4x cucumber and 2x and 4x carrot were measured using a clearing technique. In comparisons within species, embryo sac size decreased with increasing ploidy. Embryo sacs of monoecious cucumbers were smaller than those of pure forms.
