Socio-economic difficulties in developing tourism in small alpine countries: the case of Andorra

Tourism Recreation Research 13(1): 27-32

The problems faced by the microstate of Andorra, between Spain and France, in developing a self sustaining tourist industry are examined. Although other sectors are beginning to expand, the bulk of actual investment goes into tourism. It would appear that within 5 years the country has come to depend on tourism as it depended on trade some 5 years ago.
