Studies on a new strain of radish mosaic virus causing mosaic disease of radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

Studies on a new strain of radish mosaic virus causing mosaic disease of radish (Raphanus sativus L.)

Journal of the Indian Botanical Society 65(2): 136-140

The virus was readily mechanically transmitted to radish seedling. Small faint chlorotic patches appeared 6-8 d after inoculation followed by a green mosaic. The disease was also transmitted by Brevicoryne brassicae and Myzus persicae. In crude sap thermal inactivation point was between 60 and 65 degrees C after 10 min, dilution end point was 10-4 and longevity in vitro at 25 +or- 5 degrees was 36 h.
