Studies on methods, sources and times of nitrogen application to sugarcane

Nine combinations of N source (ammonium sulphate or urea), rate (40 or 80 kg N/ha), and method and time of N application (surface or deep application of N during spring, when plant cane and ratoon crops were 8 and 4.5 months old, respectively, or at or after planting and again after harvesting) were evaluated. Data on cane and sugar yields for plant cane (cv. My.54-129) and 2 ratoon crops are tabulated. Cane and sugar yields of plant cane were similar with all treatments.
