Studies on the effect of K, Ca, Mg on growth, yield and nutrient uptake by capsularis and olitorius jute

In pot trials, 2 jute were given 80 kg N and 40 kg P2O5/ha and all combinations of 0, 40 or 80 kg K2O, 0, 0.5 or 1.0 t CaCO3 and 0, 10 or 20 kg Mg/ha. Yield components and fibre yield increased with 40 kg K2O and 10 kg Mg and decreased with further increases in their rates. Ca had either no effect on yield or decreased it. Corchorus olitorius JRO 632 was more responsive to K and Mg application than C. capsularis JRC 212.
