Studies on the effect of staggered pruning in Jasminum

Studies on the effect of staggered pruning in Jasminum

Current Research, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore 15(10): 106-107

Five-year-old plants of Jasminum auriculatum Parimullai, grown for flower or essential oil production, were pruned to remove last season's dead and diseased shoots to a height of 45 cm above ground level. This pruning treatment was carried out fortnightly on different bushes between 15 December and 30 May. Data are tabulated on days to flower, 100-bud weight, bud length and diameter and flower yield. Days to flower decreased from 108.75 with mid-December pruning to 39.5 with late May pruning.
