Studies on yield and yield components in advanced generations of hybrid and composite varieties of maize

Yield/ha and its components were determined in the F1s, F2s and F3s of 3 single crosses (SC), 3 three-way crosses (TC), 3 double crosses (DC) and 3 composites (CC) grown at Menemen and Gonen in 1978. F2 yields were 37.5, 27.6, 19.1 and 6.8% lower than F1 yields for SC, TC, DC and CC, respectively.
