The causal agent of halo blight in bean, Pseudomonas syringae pathovar phaseolicola, attaches to stomata via its pili

The causal agent of halo blight in bean, Pseudomonas syringae pathovar phaseolicola, attaches to stomata via its pili

Microb Path 1(2): 139-148

Adhesion of P. syringae pv. phaseolicola to Phaseolus vulgaris cells was shown to be dependent on the pili. Adherence of non-piliated bacterial strs. was much lower than that of those with pili. SEM revealed that the piliated bacteria attached to the leaf surface at the stomata while non-piliated bacteria were evenly distributed over the leaf surface.
