The effect of date of planting on shootfly and stem borer infestations on sorghum

Sorghum genotype Serena was sown on 4 dates (in late January, mid-February, late February, and mid-March) in Zimbabwe. Counts of stem borers (the noctuids Busseola fusca and Sesamia calamistis and the pyralid Chilo partellus) and shootflies (the muscid Atherigona spp.) were made 5 and 8 weeks after germination and 28 days after emergence.
