Abstract
Adult geldings were fed at maintenance or at 80% of free appetite on lucerne cubes plus daily 500 g vitamin-mineral mixture. Average daily feed intakes were about 7 and 11.5 kg. Digestibility of DM, protein and energy was not affected by diet and values obtained by total collection or by using chromic oxide were similar. Mean retention times for digesta were 25 and 15 h, respectively.
