The effect of spring application of grass-suppressing herbicides on the clover content and seed yield components of white clover in grass/white clover swards

In an experiment in 1984 alloxydim-sodium and fluazifop-butyl applied in the spring to Lolium perenne/Trifolium repens swards controlled grass growth and significantly increased the flower production and seed yields of T. repens. Both herbicides increased T. repens content during the growing season, but this effect was only temporary as there were no significant differences in sward composition between treated and untreated plots when sampled 10 weeks after harvest.
