In 2 winter trials, with main period of 9 or 12 weeks, diet of 18 and 24 dairy cows was based on natural meadow hay of poor nutritive value, given to appetite. Pelleted concentrate, supplied twice daily in medium amount or, in trial 2, in small or large amount, was based on barley and maize or on beet pulp. Both types were equal in energy and N. Minerals and vitamins were given.
