Low feed levels for sows during lactation depressed milk production, and the more severe the feed restriction the greater the reduction in milk yield. However, feed restriction did not influence milk composition during the first lactation on test. Litter gain was influenced by feeding level. High-fed sows had faster-growing pigs than restricted-fed sows.
